Our range of prescription lenses/glasses and coatings available include:-

Single Vision lenses have one power over the entire lens and are simple to use.  Blink Optical can manufacture many single vision spectacles within one hour.

Bifocal lenses are useful when you require different prescriptions for far away and close up – this usually becomes a consideration after the age of 40.  Bifocals consist of a distance prescription at the top of the lens, and reading prescription at the bottom with the two separated by a line.

Multifocal lenses are designed such that the wearer has a continuous range of vision at every distance, from reading through to far distance.  Cosmetically these lenses look the same as single vision lenses, but have allow much greater flexibility and functionality once separate distance and near prescriptions are required.  A period of adaptation is required when first wearing these lenses as they are more complex in their design but long term, the advantages of multifocal lenses are significant.

Occupational lenses have been developed specifically for the office environment where clear, comfortable vision is essential in the computer – reading range.  They offer a larger area of lens dedicated to computer work and reading than multifocals, and a greater range of focal distances than single vision lenses.

Photosensitive lenses adapt to different light levels to ensure comfortable vision under all conditions.  Ultra violet light levels cause this change in lens colour, such that in the brightest sun the lenses will darken to offer almost same absorption as many standard sunglasses, saving the inconvenience and expense of having 2 pairs of glasses.

Anti-reflection coating is applied to the lens surface, allowing greater transmission of light which improves both the cosmetic look of the lenses, and their performance.  Problems associated with glare from headlights at night or the computer screen are minimized, giving you clearer and more comfortable vision.  The coating also eliminates the distracting white light reflections seen on other lenses, making the eyes the focus rather than the lenses.

High Index lenses may be recommended for those people with high prescriptions.  A high index lens bends light more efficiently such that the lens may be made thinner.  New technology has meant that lenses are able to be made thinner and sometimes lighter than in the past, improving the cosmetic appearance of spectacles.
