DO YOU NEED SPECIAL PRESCRIPTION SAFETY EYEWEAR FOR SPORT?

Many sporting associations demand that in order to play, one must either wear specialist eyewear with safety lenses or alternatively contact lenses. After all, safety is the number one concern for associations who want all participants to have as much fun as possible in their chosen sport.

We were reminded about this rule after a customer came into one of our Kevin Paisley Fashion Eyewear optometry practices requiring a pair of special safety glasses for her young child playing in the local Geelong Football Club. We have located the memo sent out to all participants reminding them of the rules that glasses cannot be worn unless they are specialist safety sports glasses.

Here is the relevant part of the memo:

“Spectacles – Players requiring spectacles may wear Safety Glasses only. Players who wear glasses should obtain a letter from their optometrist stating that they are Safety Glasses, and carry it with them at all times”

Call one of our optometrists for more information on the safety glasses we provide to our customers, including why Kevin Paisley Fashion Eyewear’s safety glasses are stronger, more comfortable and clearer.

And of course, all safety eyewear comes with a warranty!

We have stores located around Geelong, Werribee, Ballarat, Leopold, Horcham and Portland.

*Note that requiring safety prescription eyewear is dependant upon the laws determined by the respective sporting association you are apart of. Therefore, check with your sporting association whether you need a pair. We reference KDSA from their circular above (attached). KDSA laws are subject to change and Kevin Paisley Fashion Eyewear cannot be held responsible for any unknown changes. This article is based only on the circular dated 1st April, attached above.
